The Cyclonic Storm ‘Burevi’ over Gulf of Mannar moved westwards and lay centered 9.2°N, 79.3°E at 0900 UTC. It moves across Pamban area during next 3 hours. It would move west-southwestwards and cross south Tamilnadu coast between Pamban and Kanniyakumari during 3rd December night and 4th December early hours.
Synoptic situation: -
Shear line is approximately along: 03N 60E, 04N 70E, 03N 80E, 04N 90E,04N 100E.
ITCZ is approximately along: 07S 60E, 07S 70E, 07S 80E, 07S 90E, 07S 100E.
North of Shear line:
West of 65E: NE’ly to E’ly / (05-15) kts.
In-between 65E and 90E: Cyclonic / (15-25) kts; gusting up to 45 kts in sections 05 and 10.
East of 90E: NE’ly to E’ly / (05-15) kts
In between Shear line and ITCZ:
West of 80E: SW’ly to W’ly / (05-15) kts
In-between 80E and 90E: W’ly to NW’ly / (10-20) kts; gusting up to 30kts in sections 50, 70
East of 90E: W’ly to NW’ly / (05-15) kts.
South of ITCZ:
