SPECIAL WEATHER BULLETIN FOR HEAVY RAINFALLS, STRONG WINDS OVER THE COUNTRY AND ROUGH SEAS AROUND THE ISLAND.

Change in the prevailing weather is expected with the movement of the depression (located in the Bay of Bengal) towards Bangladesh. If change occurs showers will occur at times in the South-western parts tomorrow and day after tomorrow (29th and 30th of May).
Strong winds about 80kmph can be expected over the country (These wind conditions are especially expected over the western slope of the central hills) and surrounding sea areas.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, Central and North-western provinces.
Heavy falls above 100 mm can be expected at some places (Particularly in the Western slope of the central hills).
Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places elsewhere.
Conditions of the sea area
The sea area off the coast extending from Puttalam to Trincomalee via Kankasanturai and sea area off the coast extending from Galle to Batticaloa via Hambantota can be very rough at times as the wind speed can increase up to 70-80 kmph at times.
The other sea areas around the island can be rough at times as the wind speed can increase up to 60-70 kmph at times.
Navel and fishing communities are requested to be vigilant in this regards.
